Stage Directions: Gig Gear LLC — manufacturer of accessories designed for theatre techs and live entertainment production professionals — will officially announce its new personal health and safety awareness initiative “Safe and Sound” at next week’s USITT Expo in Louisville, KY, from March 20-23.
As the manufacturer of Gig Gloves, work gloves designed to protect the hands of theatre and live production professionals, the company saw the need to create an initiative that brings personal health, safety and wellness to the forefront of the theatre industry — as well as all production industries.

Gig Gear's new initiative to create a program to help maintain your employees' morale. I think this is something that really hasn't gotten a lot of attention in the entertainment industry. As Danny Shatzkes, founder and CEO of Gig Gear LLC said, “Our goal is to help people continue doing what they love for longer." The idea of extending your employees' life in the industry is something we talk a lot about in the emergency services industry. In EMS, we call it burnout, and it's something that happens all the time. In our line of work, it is very easy to overwork your employees. A huge reason for this is because of the situations we encounter daily. EMTs and Paramedics see things that many would be very hurt by, yet are expected to continue with their normal lives. While these situations aren't encountered a lot in the entertainment industry, burnout still exists due to people often being overworked, and for this reason, it is important to talk about these issues.
