Every day there is a different holiday in which people recognize valuable individuals, occasions, and practices that are important to them. But I have always believed in taking the time to appreciate things throughout the year is just as important. Much of this article focuses on the positive effect of a strong teacher on one’s experience in the theatre. I feel that this positive reaction and kind words should not be held back until the closing of a performance, or a student’s graduation. Recognizing and thanking those around you can create a deeper and more meaningful relationship. Carlos Celdran emphasizes the monumental importance of theatre, and its ability to pass economic, racial, and many other divisive boundaries. His brief, yet poetic, explanation of the art form is moving because of the metaphor of it being its own nation. Theatre creates a new home for the individuals who love it, and there are no regulations keeping individuals out.
