Pro Tool Reviews: Whether you’re a DIYer or a seasoned Pro, the landscape is changing when it comes to reciprocating saw blades. Often called Sawzall blades after the original tool, choosing the best reciprocating saw blade for the job at hand is key to getting the best performance and life out of your blades.
So it’s just a question of wood or metal, right?

I knew there were a lot of different Sawzall blades, but there are a lot more in this article than I realized. I didn’t realize that you could use the cement, masonry, and fiberglass for metal, though I wouldn’t really ever want to because of the extremely fine metal dust that it creates. I also didn’t know there were so many types for metal cutting, though that is not surprising since we primarily use Sawzalls here for wood demolition and if we want to take apart a metal frame we use the portable band saw. I’m interested as to why we don’t buy the carbide blades (I don’t think we buy these, ours are white and bend rather easily, these look much more beefy) since they last so much longer. And we very rarely are using a Sawmill for wood that isn’t filled with screws or staples that will dull the blade.
