Behind the Scenes with Beyoncé's Stage Manager Terry Cooley

The Honesty Hour: As the hardest-working performer in show business, Beyoncé would be incomplete without a team that is equally sedulous.

Amid traveling the world on The Mrs. Carter Show, her largest concert production to date, the singer has just released a new behind-the-scenes video starring her stage manager Terry Cooley, giving you an inside look at his demanding daily duties.

This is so cool! I love that this video was made and I love the way Cooley talks about his job. I think it was really interesting to hear how similar his job is to that of a manager on tour for a play. He talks a lot about wanting to maintain a consistent performance environment both for Beyonce and for those who have purchased tickets. I imagine it's an incredibly taxing job, and I have a lot of respect for the fact that he is really there from start to finish, overseeing load-in and working on it himself. It seemed like there was also a woman calling the show (unless that was for effect), so I would really like to know what the breakdown of a team like that looks like. It seems like Terry is sort of Beyonce's right hand, and by extension is a part of the load-in process to make sure everything is right for her, while there are other people perhaps more technically inclined who are really running that process and checking in with Terry. I love to imagine what this kind of lifestyle would be like. It is a huge time commitment, clearly illustrated by his 5:15 am start and his 3:30 am departure, but I'd bet that traveling around the country with Beyonce would be a truly incredible experience.
