Comfort is the Key to FR Clothing Compliance
Occupational Health & Safety: Personal protective equipment (PPE) non-compliance is a widespread problem that occurs to different degrees on many job sites around the world. It's every safety manager's nightmare that an unworn FR garment, or even undone shirt buttons or zippers, could be the difference between life and death in the event of an arc flash or flash fire workplace accident.

I have so much trouble finding clothing that is appropriate for my job and my body type, as I am a very small person who does a job of traditionally larger people. I like the points the article makes by saying that comfort is the most important thing to keep people on task and focused. If someone is constantly fiddling with their ear plugs or welding jacket, that kills active work time every few minutes. Also being comfortable wearing with what you are during a task, like certain sleeves with some jobs or gloves are the big one when working with certain things. I’m never comfortable wearing full gloves because no matter what kind I get, the fingers are always too long and I’m constantly afraid they’re going to catch on something or get stuck in a closing gap somewhere. FR is pretty much a bonus to any kind of PPE, but fit and comfort is definitely the top factor.
