I'm so glad that the PLASA standards are available for free now!
I think it's great that these standards are published for the industry to review. It allows for much safer and standardized systems throughout the entire entertainment world.
The standard regarding entertainment rigging counterweight systems is especially useful, as it is a citable source for best practices when installing or configuring counterweight systems. This is something the industry has not had on paper until now.
I'm glad that the rigging standards are being updated. One could say that most of the standard rigging practices are not really changing so there is not that much of a point in trying to update the standards, but I disagree. We've seen many cases in just the last year of expansive rigging systems failing so more/revised standards for those inspecting the work are quite useful. I also agree with frank that I like how the standards are more easily available. Hopefully, this will encourage more people to be concerned with the standards for entertainment rigging.
