Greensburg Civic Theatre spoofs Hitchcock with '39 Steps'

TribLIVE: Theatergoers looking for a bit of romance, mystery and intrigue for Valentine's Day weekend will find it in Greensburg Civic Theatre's production of “The 39 Steps.”
Adapted by Patrick Barlow from the novel by John Buchan, the play is a spoof of Alfred Hitchcock's original classic movie.
“The humor of the show is very much in line with some of the classic British comedies such as ‘Monty Python,' ‘Black Adder' and even ‘Red Dwarf,' ” says Rob MacIntyre of Irwin, director of the production.

I saw a production of the "39 Steps" several years ago, strangely enough, it was also performed on valentines day, is it a theater tradition? I had no idea what the concept of the show was before hand, and found myself not the slightest bit bothered by the rapid switching of characters, especially when done well, it really added an element to the show. It made you separate the character from the actor, instead of having a face to identify with, there are personalities, voices and emotions.
