The introduction to this article is extremely accurate and recognizes one of the negative aspects of technology while communicating with people. PowerPoint and similar programs can be very useful, but unfortunately we have all sat through that boring, strenuous presentation with slides covered in text. The 8 Ft. Rule is an excellent idea to help people solve the problem of boring presentations. The graphic in this article also illustrated this point very well. I think part of the reason my generation has become so dependent on these small fonts is because they are not willing to put the time in to learning the material they are presenting and would rather just read of the slide, which does not often reflect well with the audience, especially those that know how to use PowerPoint effectively.
