Gawker Hit With Class Action Lawsuit by Former Interns

www.hollywoodreporter.com: Gawker Media is the latest to feel the legal wrath of former interns.  On Friday, the digital publishing outfit was hit with labor claims in New York federal court by three former interns who say they worked on the New York company's blogs but weren't "paid a single cent."

Labour laws are very complex, and this lawsuit proves it. The production manager, or whomever is in charge of hiring/firing as well as any employees charged with the supervision of these interns should have paid more careful attention to tasks assigned to the them. This incident with Gawker is not isolated to the film industry, as labour laws apply to every field including theatre. Everyone deserves to be paid fairly for their work, and every company needs to ensure that laws are being followed. The blog post mentioned in the article when the lawsuit was first filed seems childish to me, I would expect more from a large company in the film industry.
