Having time to experience Pittsburgh on this six week Carnegie Mellon Pre-College program, I am glad to be in the honorary smartest city in USA. While the list seems to certainly have its flaws, I am glad it wasn't just a statement of what city is where and not explain why. The criteria that were used were interesting and even though New York City is not on there (for good reasons) I enjoyed learning how this list is compiled
Any article about intelligence is intriguing. This specific one I found to be aggravating mostly because of the criteria. There is no right way to measure intelligence or "smartness" but there are several wrong ways. For example, the media criterion. Just because there is a lot of media available doesn't mean that it is accurate, un-biased or critical material that most people read. The good thing about this article was that made me think about how individuals or groups measure a variety of things, such as artistic talent or creativity in theatre.
