Live Sound: The Oldest Sound Company In The World?
Pro Sound Web: Living in Britain, I am in a country steeped in history. A friend of mine’s house was built before a European even “discovered” America, and we are so used to things just being old that we don’t get excited about it.
U.S. writer Bill Bryson noted that there were more, older buildings in the tiny village he lived in Derbyshire than in the whole of Iowa, where he was born.

The history of the sound system all started with an overcrowded, noisy marketplace. It's amazing how the most incredible inventions come from the most practical, everyday situations. The way a simple PA system made to overpower fellow salesmen's voices grew over the course of eighty years into one of the largest, most well-used sound companies that exists today. It has such a rich history, it makes me wonder how other aspects of theatre began and how they developed. Knowledge of the history of the equipment one works with is always useful in maximizing efficiency and variability.
That is amazing. a real industrial really can started anywhere at anytime for any reason.the company in this story start with an overcrowded market, i thought it would end up to a voicebox company. sometimes if you think about it, think about things like this, you would be so suprised that the whole world changed because of really rediculars reason. well i think that is the human being. and that is the 'butterfly' in reality.and i have to say, someone earned his life by selling things ended up helping government during the world war 2, he was such a genius.
This is an amazing story, I love that this bit of history is just hiding in our modern day and yet most people have never heard of this company. I've actually heard of the recoding studio, but not the rest of the company. The part of the story that I liked the most was that the sound equipment was used on D day. I guess it just goes to show that even something that seems very unimportant can make a big difference to world history. Also I really like that style of the writing especially at the end with Thor and the other historical figures.
