I like seeing that this job posting is open to everyone and doesn't necessarily require previous stagehand experience. Although this means the pool of applicants is much larger, it could also have the potential to bring someone who is unaware of our industry into the great world of the entertainment industry. I think it would be very enjoyable to start off touring with a show, as this is something I've always been interested in doing. We seem to place a stigma on Craigslist job postings, but I think this company is just trying to get the word out about a job that doesn't necessarily suit everyone.
A Craigslist ad? Really? I find it difficult to imagine that the circus has been unsuccessful with finding a stagehand who, perhaps, has a little bit of experience, before tossing a long-term resident position working intimately with the safety of performers on Craigslist with "no experience needed". The ad asks for a resume, but for what? Your heavy lifting experience? A picture of your muscles? I don't see what you should put on a resume for a job with a single line about your job responsibilities and nothing about work references, salary/compensation, the length of contract or any details on the accommodations. If Big Apple Circus wasn't a well-known company, I'd be incredibly weary about even applying to this position.
