Is Japan on Its Way to Becoming the New Hollywood?
backstage.com: Go East, young actors. That could have been the underlying message from Chris Dodd, chairman and CEO of the Motion Picture Association of America, on the release of a new report highlighting the growth of the film and television industry in Japan.

While the article states "Go East Actors", I am curious what the booming film industry market in Japan is raising demanding for. Actors? Crew? Producers? Writers? Directors?
Why "Go East Actors"? Of all professions in the film industry to have a raised demand for, I couldn't imagine actors being the first. A dearth of actors?
Perhaps if there are those of us interested in film, this burgeoning Japanese "Hollywood" could be an opportunity to make a lot of connections and rise quickly. Go East everyone.
Well, is Japan on its way to becoming the new Hollywood? Seems a little dubious. This article didn't really provide much information. It's fantastic that film is booming in Japan, but I hardly think it will become the new Hollywood. That seems a little extreme, considering in most areas of Japan there is a major space issue that simply doesn't provide the versatility that Hollywood does. That said, it is true that a lot of fantastic film does consistently come out of Japan.
This is great. I would totally move to Japan. This makes me think of a few weeks back about Canada trying to push a Broadway musical style industry forward. I personally enjoy crazy ninja, foreign, fighting movies so this sounds great for me. So sounds like a great thing to me. Japan seems like a great place to go and has some great history to make movies out of.
Why does every area that starts to produce movies become the "New" Hollywood. Look, no one will ever be Michael Jordan, not Kobe, Grant Hill, John Wall, or even Lebron James. No other area will be Hollywood. With that said, why would you want to be Hollywood, what is wrong with being Japan? If Japan has a new booming film industry that is great. I don't think the people of Japan want the title "Hollywood" I understand that this is just the article header, but I have seen it several times over the past couple of months and it's exhausting.
In conclusion: Lebron is clearly better than Jordan. discuss.
