New Broadway season has Pacino, Lauper and ‘Annie’
TribLIVE: There’s a bit of everything for theatergoers this fall in New York, from a play about porn to a musical about proselytizing Christians. Al Pacino and Katie Holmes are the star headliners, while David Mamet makes a big return and the sun comes out for “Annie.” Even The Fonz makes it to Broadway for the 2012-13 season.

I am certainly very excited to see what is coming to Broadway this Fall! Several new musicals, including Chaplin, really spark my interest. Along with the countless stars that will be returning to Broadway this Fall, several remounted productions and revivals (such as Rebecca: The Musical and Annie) will be sure to spark the interest of many theatre-goers as well. I also think it is fantastic that a few writers have several works appearing on Broadway this season. I just hope that Chaplin is better than Annie...by a lot. Here's to a fun season on Broadway!
This looks like a fantastic season on Broadway. One of my favorite plays is Ibsen's Enemy of the People. Granted, it's been done many times, but I'd really like to see it performed live, as I've never had the chance to. As well as the revival of Who's Afraid of Virgina Woolf? The revival of Annie does little to interest me, but I would like to see Matilda: The Musical. I always enjoyed that book as a child, and even if the acting falls through, it should be an interesting technical spectacle with all sorts of props flying around the stage!
Well, these upcoming shows look a lot more appealing than the other article listing the shows that are being produced following the deal with the Sony company to bring movies to Broadway. Especially with the multitude of talented cast members that are part of the line up, including many older performers that haven't been on Broadway for quite awhile. I would definitely be interested in seeing a handful of these shows.
