The issues addressed in this play remind me of those examined in August: Osage County. It appears that the new trend in straight plays is exploring human relationships, specifically family dynamics, through "dark adult comedy." This is the kind of theatre that gets me really excited. (Well, I suppose all theatre gets me really excited...) I love to watch plays like this because they combine all the things about theatre I love in terms of performance: getting caught up in all of the drama, examining human nature and evaluating the characters, laughing (dark comedies are my favorite) and watching really talented actors practice their craft. Plays like August (and, I assume, Poor Behavior,) bring a level of realism to the stage that I really enjoy watching. So, I'm excited for this show to run.
