Fall Arts Preview: Stage is set for comedy, drama, musicals
Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: Get ready for an eclectic mix of theater options this season. Between the current run of "Wicked" (through Oct. 2) and Pittsburgh Public Theater's "Private Lives" (May 24 to June 24), theatergoers will have a wealth of shows to choose from.

Huh. Maybe I don't know enough about how the school works, but if they're including Point Park in this list wouldn't you think that CMU should also be included? I feel like we make a pretty relevant presence in the city. Besides that odd point, this looks like a really great line up, with a relatively balanced amount of classical and modern theater. I'm the most interested in seeing Quantum's "The End of The Affair," to see how they adapt a clinic into a theatrical space, particularly a space that is supposed to represent the London Blitz. I'm excited to see the design for that, bringing theater to unexpected venues is always an interesting challenge to see unfold.
This article was very insightful and has giving me more options of what to see this Fall. I saw some brochures advertising some of the plays showing this season around Pittsburgh, but this article has mentioned some that I didn’t know about. I am so excited to see Cirque de Soleil finally and Twelfth Night and I know that I will definitely be watching Memphis again.
It is really exciting to see so much variety being offered in Pittsburgh's theater scene this season. It really highlights the achievement of those individuals working very hard to make Pittsburgh as much of a theater destination as Chicago or New York. The fact that we have so many resident companies producing such a vast array of work in so many different styles is truly amazing. What I find most interesting is the (I believe) recent interest Cirque has been showing in the city. I think that it is a good sign for the arts community here that an international organization feels that it is viable to bring a touring show here (granted Quidam is an older show, but still). It will be really exciting to see how the theater community helps continue to move Pittsburgh out of the post-steel era and into the high-tech cosmopolitan city it can become.
I agree with Reilly! Maybe we should create more budget space for online marketing...(allusion to Wicked article i just commented on). Either way, it is very refreshing for such an abundance of art to be in the community, and for it to be QUALITY is nice as well. I think the difference between Pittsburgh and Dallas is that.. for Dallas going to the theatre or seeing a production was purpose driven... for example you would go to see Wicked for a date with your girlfriend, or because you cousin was doing it at her high school. In Pittsburgh there seems to be vibe of celebrating the arts in general, and you attend a show for more than the show itself.... but for the experience. That being said there are options here for every style, or experience, you could dream of. It is good to be in such a cultural hub.
