Hollywood's Freelance Casting Directors Make A Pension Deal

The Hollywood Reporter: Thursday night, freelance casting directors ratified an agreement with the studios, Teamsters business agent Steve Dayan told The Hollywood Reporter. The new agreement provides for an increase in pension and health contributions from the employers and a 2% wage increase for associate casting directors.

This is a good place to put money. Films are really expensive and a 2% increase in casting is quite a sum of money, but not compared to the overall costs. Also, associate casting directors do a decent chunk of work, so it is reasonable to be payed something at least a little more since so many Hollywood films have the budget. I only wonder if this will create any significant change in how producers choose casting agencies and agencies choose casting directors.
