Actors still connected to 'Rent' through their joint musical project

Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: Fifteen years after they first appeared as Roger and Mark in "Rent," Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp still enjoy spending time together on stage and off. For the past two years, the friends have been doing just that with "Adam & Anthony," a joint concert tour that has taken them to venues across the country and to Japan. "It's been on and off for about a year. We meet up and do shows," Pascal says. "These are times we get to see each other. It's part of our social life."

I think it's great that a duo like Anthony Rapp and Adam Pascal are still performing together after so many years. It really does encapsulate the spirit of Rent and the manner in which it brought a group of people together through defining a generation. The fact that so many Rent fans are attending this event, and bringing their children to enjoy the same thing that they once found solace in allows its messages to transcend into a new generation. It is also poignant that they two have not overlooked Pittsburgh as a performance space, as it may speak to many of the people who have lived here through the improvements that have been made over the past several decades.
Overall, this piece is a testament to how art continues to bring people together, and can keep them bonded for years to come.

There are times in some actors' careers when they will be defined by a role they play because it is so popular. Many times actors who cannot get out of being known for that one "role" kinda fall out of the acting world and continue to be thought of as that character. A good example would be Star Trek. Other times they are able to move on into other genres. What I think is interesting about this article is that these two actor/singers embrace the thing they are most well known for and give it their own twist that enables them to create the art that they want to but still be able to pull from their original fan base. I think this is a very thoughtful and strategic career move for both of them. It is also always nice to work again with people you have shared so much time with in the past. I say good for them!

I heard about the concert that the pair performed when a theatre I used to work at presented the show. I had really wanted to see it at the time because I was impressed that the pair were still performing together, and were embracing their roots to Rent. I liked that thy were able to take the roles that had made them famous and incorporate them in a new way for audiences to see.

I think its wonderful when actors and such are able to stay close friends with people they have worked with in the past. in this particular case I think that it matches the there characters and brings another level to how I think of them in Rent. There Friendship is so strong just as it was in Rent that they can make it through anything together.

I think this is great. Rapp and Pascal's relationship shows that you can meet some of your best and lifelong friends through your work. And what's more, after fifteen years they still enjoy working together. It's a great reminder that no matter what field you're in, working isn't the only thing that can come out of the workplace. Friendship and lifelong working partnerships can come too.
