It is great to hear that at least one theater company from the USA will be going to this festival in London. I find it kind of strange that only one company is coming from the US I wonder if there will be more companies saying that they are going in the coming weeks. I still find it somewhat startling that they are going to be fighting for resources against the Olympics. I would like to see a list of the companies that are going to be performing over this six week period. I also would like to see the group that is coming from the US perform their piece. I wonder if there will be a similar something that they will perform back in the states.
I am glad that the United States will be represented by at least one theatre company. I also find it a bit odd that American English is considered a different language than other countries English. I would be curious to know why the language that Chicago Shakespeare Theater was asked to perform in was “American Hip-Hop.” I would be very interested to see the different productions performed by the different countries. I would be interest to see how their cultural backgrounds influence the way that one interprets Shakespeare.
