High Definition Video Wall

entertainment engineering: JVC Professional Products Company, a division of JVC Americas Corp., announced that Northwestern University is using 25 JVC GD-463D10U 46-inch 3D LCD HD monitors to create a video wall display for visualization of detailed scientific data. The 5-foot by 5-foot video wall, which can provide presentations for up to 35 people, is located in the lobby of the Silverman Hall for Molecular Therapeutics and Diagnostics, which was built for the Chemistry of Life Processes Institute.

What a cool installation. I'm surprised that the 3D effects work across all of the screens and stay synchronized to produce one whole image... I'm curious how much the screen bevels mess up the continuity of the image as well. Based on current selling price, those monitors collectively cost $106,250 - not to mention the array of computers with high-end graphics cards needed to supply video to the screens. Is it really worth the money to Northwestern and how practical is this screen array in actuality?

This wall is very interesting how they did a lot of research into what option would be the cheapest and most effective for their glasses and putting different media on the screens. The app that they are making is very interesting that it will allow them to put things on the screens very easily and be able to do things live on them. I am surprised that CMU does not have one of these but I am sure that ETC will be getting a system like this one just because I could see them using this system to do a lot of interesting things. I would like to see and experience a system like this to see how cool it is and if the seams are a reel problem when you view the screens
