We are seeking a candidate that can teach technical theater courses in scenic, lighting and/or costume technology and serve as technical director for two productions per quarter/semester. Oversee construction, mounting, rigging, general theater maintenance, scenery, lighting, sound and costume elements of theater productions. Ensure overall safety. Coordinate load-ins, technical rehearsals, and post-production strikes. Successful candidate must be available during run of productions. This is a one-year appointment with possibility of annual renewal, contingent on performance and enrollment.

The National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID), one of the eight colleges of RIT, is the world's largest technological college serving deaf and hard of hearing students. Created by Congress and funded by the U.S. Department of Education, it represents the world's first effort to educate large numbers of deaf students within a college campus planned primarily for hearing students. Together with 15,000 full and part-time hearing students, over 1,300 college-age deaf students from all 50 states and abroad study and reside on the campus of the Rochester Institute of Technology. QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
1. BA/BFA in technical theater or related field
2. Two years of professional experience in technical directing and scenic technology for theater
PREFERRED:
1. MFA in technical direction or technical theater
2. Experience in teaching technical theater courses to undergraduates
3. Experience as technical director
4. Experience in supervising staff and student workers
5. Evidence of strong planning and organization skills
6. Knowledge of American Sign Language and Deaf culture
7. Experience working in Deaf theater
