SAG Allocates $70K to Task Force for Merger with AFTRA

Backstage: "SAG's national board unanimously voted Sunday to allocate up to $70,000 in additional funding to its SAG-AFTRA Relations Task Force, which is working to 'develop a framework for the formation of a new union combining the members of Screen Actors Guild and AFTRA,' according to a SAG statement.

I'm not sure how far $70,000 goes with lawyer fees and what not for a full merger of the two unions, but the potential of combining them will have an immense affect on how producers from TV, Radio, and Film communicate with each other. If SAG-AFTRA merge it will be more interesting to see how the other unions surrounding them (IATSE, DGA, ETC) change their bargaining agreements in response.
