Vectorworks Spotlight Video Tutorial 2010
On Stage Lighting: "Learning complex CAD software can be confusing, and it’s often useful to be able to revisit things you tried out in training sessions sometime in the future. So, I created a set of videos based on the very basics of Vectorworks in 2D that a beginner needs to get through before they can move on. Here is the series of six, using VW 2010, for the readers of On Stage Lighting to enjoy(?!) if CAD floats yer boat, please excuse the streaming head cold I had when recording them.

Wonder if this will work. Learned to CAD on Vectorworks, found it pretty easy to draw and 3d model. Came to school here learned AutoCAD and picked it up really quickly. Probably a better autocad user than Vectorworks (but I'm sure if I came here and we all used Vectorworks I'd be just as good.) Wonder if there is a CAD program that works better for theater than other arenas or if it user specific. Interesting to see TAIT get totally behind Autodesk projects, I'm sure they could be just as efficient with a different program. Maybe it's not the software but the user, or maybe no one has developed a good way to teacher a software not designed for theater to the theater.
This was really smart. So many people use vectorworks and unless you are transitioning from another CAD program, moving into technology can be difficult. Even if you do have CAD experience, not all programs operate in the same manner so switching is still time consuming. Also, this a well paced tutorial such that one could keep up and follow along while watching. The chick anywhere on the screen is a nice feature (although perhaps not intentional) because when something is missed, usually the ensuing attempt to pause is in haste so having such a large target area is nice.
It is amazing and wonderful to visit your site. I've learn many things from your site.
