Shaky times at storied Cirque

The Globe and Mail: "Last year, Cirque du Soleil's founder, Guy Laliberté, was flying high – literally – making headlines around the world for his trip into space. But as the calendar flips over, the stilt-walking entertainment executive is coming back down to earth, and hard.
His Montreal-based company has two big new shows in preview performances right now – and both have been marked by production setbacks and bad buzz."

Understand how technology has upped the communication about reviews/trashing. But I could almost see in this situation that all the bad press would have the opposite effect. I wouldn't be surprised if people went to see these shows just to see if the reviews really were accurate about how bad they are. Kinda like no press is bad press. I'm just curious if Cirque will bump back any more deadlines. That sounds like it could be getting REALLY expensive.

Cirque has really had a "hot" year. They've come out with several strong Vegas and touring shows. They're really beginning to gain ground and a niche in the general audience's eye. It makes sense that they may have a hiccup or two. Like Candace said, technology is affecting the reviews, and Cirque does have a strong reputation for producing phenomenal work with the changing times. Cirque wouldn't produce a show they thought wouldn't be well received, and they are a company that will push back deadlines until they are happy with the end result.

It sounds like cirque is in trouble with these new shows because it is a type of show that they have not worked with . I think that this type of show that they are working with is a great type of show but not for cirque. I think that they should go back to there other type of shows and what they are successful at. Also cirque is the type of company that would delay the opining if they are not happy with the predict that is being made. I hop that best for cirque with these shows this year.
