The amazing Athol Fugard
Berkeley Rep Blog: "Tonight, on the Thrust Stage, Athol Fugard's Coming Home begins previews (opening night is Wednesday, January 20). This incredibly moving play, directed by Gordon Edelstein, addresses the complexities of contemporary post-apartheid South Africa in a deeply personal way."

I love reading these kinds of articles. They are a direct way to show what a difference theatre can make in the world. I know definitely in my family being a practitioner of theatre meant wasting an opportunity to do something useful for the world. Fugard's story shows the amazing power of theatre to bring light upon and change wrongs in the world. It's amazing about Fugard is that he is still writing and bringing light to new things. Once apartheid ended Fugard could have considered his work accomplished, but he still sees the vast amount of help that his country still needs. He is still working to rectify the wrong's of his country using the the playwriting skills he is so gifted in. I hope to use my skills in theatre to also bring good and change to this world.
