I am suprised that Rosco only made that much off of that gel color. It's not a particularly popular gel but I would think it would make more than that. It seems like a great thing for Rosco to do, and from looking at the Hemsley Lighting program it seems like a great foundation and cause to give to especially for students and younger designers. On a side note, Mark Stanley the guy who created the color R361 is a really nice guy and a great designer I was able to meet him when I was applying to BU.

I'm really not that surprised this much money was made. If you consider how much a sheet of gel costs and how many theater departments overbuy when it comes to color it's not so surprising that about $10,000 dollars were made off of R361. I also know a fair amount of designers who use Hemsley blue in their work because of its mix of lavender and blue - i've heard it makes for a great curtain warmer.
