New York Post: "Eliza beth I. McCann, who guided the Tony Awards through some choppy times, had a lot to do with the success of this year's telecast, a program that won an Emmy and good reviews from the press.
And what was her reward?
To be unceremoniously ousted from her job as managing producer of the Tonys"

I LOVE this journalist's attitude. He's just so openly bias about the decision and reveals just how involved he is with theatre business. I have to agree with him though on the matter of Liz's dismissal. The two companies wanted a head that the could control and she wasn't it. It'll be interesting to see how to conflicting goals will come together at the next award ceremony. Isn't it funny to be fired for being to good at your job?
I'm wonder if there will honestly be a notable difference in the structure of the Tony Awards this year, with this change in position. If it is anything as the journalist implies, the Tony's will be ridiculously unorganized as a result. I plan on looking out for any major changes. Otherwise, I think this was a terrible way to go about firing anybody, but I believe there may be more to the story than the journalist is making us aware of, at least I'm hoping there is.
I think that the summary of the events as "good job getting things back on track, we can handle it from here" is a good one. Even though Liz seemed to do a great job with the Tonys and brought new life to the business, guess the powers that be just got tired of not having complete control. Seems like that's what they mean by "not a good collaborator."
