'Crisis? What crisis?' ask defiant West End theatre producers

The Stage: "Theatre producers have hit back at claims that the West End has been plunged into a ‘credit crunch crisis’, branding recent reports of a box office crash as ‘hysteria’ and insisting there is no evidence that the global financial situation has yet caused shows to close."

Its amazing to me that they haven't been affected. Usually the arts industry is one of the first to get he with finical hard times. Nancy has a much better view. She knows things are fine for the moment... but acknowledges that it could change at any moment. Michael did say one thing that makes some sense... People are being more picky with their money, so they are not going to take as many risks with their entertainment. I know I am not right now. I am sure things could get rough in the industry, but I don't expect it to disappear.

Though it seems that the theatre hasn't been affected by the economy yet I'm sure that it will be feeling the effects in months to come. It would be very strange if the theatre was not affected at all by this. It makes no sense that every other industry has been affected except for theatre. Though I don't want it to be the case in some way or other the theatre business will be affected.
