When a premiere isn't—and why not to care

chicagotribune.com: "In declining to delete the phrase, I argued back that I don't see the phrase 'world premiere' as something subject to a claim. It seems to me that the first full, public production of a new play with Equity actors and paid tickets is, ipso facto, a world premiere, whether the producer 'claims' that title or not. Sure, one could claim that a new play isn't finished. But that's not the point. 'August: Osage County' was changed (and improved) prior to the current Broadway production, but it still premiered at Steppenwolf."
