This is something that I can relate to. I feel that theater is not only a way to express emotion, but also a means by which to educate. I feel that in our fast paced society, emotion constantly gets shoved to the side. To be truly passionate in the theater, you have to let that emotion rise up, and fill the space. Whether it be in the text of the script, or the actions you may take as an actor. You release those emotions, and you educate the world. Not only do you show others a way by which to release emotion, but you can educate society on what you view as important.
Also, theater harvests (by nature) a very strong community. In a world in which "cyber space" is slowly taking over, and we are getting further and further from one another, theater is a place where you have to come together with others to reach the common goal. Not only do you come together, but you form incredibly strong ties with others because you succeed and fail with them. You experiment and push the limits with these people, which creates human interactions that we all need to survive.
