The Boston Globe:
"The Citi Performing Arts Center will no longer sponsor a free annual Shakespeare production on the Boston Common, Citi Center officials confirmed yesterday. But that does not mean the end of the popular performances, said Steven Maler, founding artistic director of the Commonwealth Shakespeare Company, which has staged the production in partnership with the Citi Center."

This is certainly some sad news to those of us Bostonians around here. I have worked with Steven Maler on other productions, and I am confident that If anyone can put on this production without the support of Citi, Steven can. One other aspect of this article that also troubled me was Boston Ballet's move to the opera house. While the Opera House is a fantastic venue, particularly after its renovation to accommodate "The Lion King", I worry about how programming might be cut to accommodate the Boston Ballet in this space. I would hate to see tours turned away from Boston because of a lack of performance space.
