Movies invade Opera world

Variety: "Upcoming opera attractions include the David Cronenberg-helmed 'The Fly,' bound for LA Opera next month after a recent run in Paris; 'Il Postino,' aiming for LA Opera in 2009; and 'Brokeback Mountain,' on tap for New York City Opera in 2013. They follow in the footsteps of 'Dead Man Walking,' which bowed at San Francisco Opera in 2000 and 'A Wedding,' the 2004 opera based on the 1978 Robert Altman film, among others."
