A Safer Utility Knife

Toolmonger: "If you work in a warehouse or in any sort of material-handling job, a utility knife can be your best friend, or it can send you to the ER. Martor USA makes a series of utility knives, including the Megasafe 116003, that features a blade-retraction mechanism — the blade automatically snaps back into the knife’s body when it loses contact with the material it’s cutting. This reduces the risk of accidental injury by making sure the blade is only out when it’s under control."

This seems like a great idea if you're making a lot of cuts over a long period time but I'm sure it could get really annoying if you are just making one cut but then you could just got to a normal knife. It's really nice that there are all of these inventions today making tools safer. Personally I was shocked when I heard there was a table saw where the blade would drop if it cut someone's skin do to moisture sensors. I wonder how many inventions made for safety we will use in twenty years.
