Skele-Wrench?

Toolmonger: "Garrett Wade sells a crescent wrench that’s been stripped down to its skeleton — all excess metal has been whittled away to leave a wrench they claim is 20% lighter than similar sized wrenches but still maintains 100% of its strength."

I am a little skeptical that the wrench retains all of its strength with (what appears to be a lot of) metal removed. (However, I think that even as is, it would be sufficiently strong for any application.) Making a lighter-weight wrench seems like an interesting idea, but I don't think that removing the extra weight would be that useful. Also, since so much appears to be removed from the handle, I would worry that the head of the wrench would be heavier and the wrench as a whole would be off-balance and possibly harder to use (or at least get used to at first).

The idea of a lighter weight wrench is a great idea. Less weight bouncing in your pockets when you are hanging lights is always a plus. Although it is lighter, the loss of that extra metal in the center does make the wrench look less sturdy, but I doubt that tightening a c-clamp with that wrench would break it.
