Handwriting: A Skill For A Digital Age

Lifehack.org: "It seems like those of us who spend most of our day at a computer are slowly losing those handwriting skills our elementary school teachers spent years drilling into us. More than anything else, it’s a matter of disuse: many people hardly ever write anything out by hand and, if they do, it’s a quick note meant only to last until the next time they’re at a computer."

The article says that prescriptions will probably take a turn for the digital--they have. My doctor uses this eNote software that lists allergies and overall patient history electronically. It also emails local pharmacies prescriptions, and it might even phone them too.

The system is crazy. The problem is, when I went to the doctor last, he still didn't really know how to use it. Granted, this system will probably save him tons of time, no pharmacists calling, files don't dry rot and can be backed up very easily.

But I digress. Handwriting is really important, even if you only use it once and a while. A well hand written thank you note is worth more than any email in my book. Especially if you spent the money to mail it.
