Federal Support Grows for Rural Theatre Companies

Backstage: "Stage actors living in major metropolitan areas such as New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago often assume -- without much objection -- that they're living in some of the finest theatre centers in the world. Actors in these areas audition for roles in widely recognized Equity productions, but many of them struggle to gain union status in these competitive markets. That said, most actors don't just pack up and move to Idaho to cure their artistic frustration -- but perhaps some of them should."
