Why Not Drill Sideways?
Toolmonger: "Boring doesn’t have to be boring. Why not shake things up sometimes and drill sideways? With this 3D bit from Trend and a variable speed 3/8″ or larger drill, you can cut straight holes, curved holes, slots, or even recesses."

This is a really cool bit. It would allow you to do so many things that another bit might not allow, especially curved holes. The price doesn't seem too bad, but there is a chance of them selling out in the u.s. and that would be a problem. They look really cool, and are probably good for some projects, but i don't think i would have a use for them.
This bit doesn't really seem like it can do other bits can't. It might be useful for roughing out large portions of material, but it seems like a glorified spade bit. While being able to move your drill bit any direction might be useful, it also seems inherently inaccurate, for any task.
its a shame that neither of the links they provided worked...
i think i get the concept, but if you end up needing to make such complex cuts like this using a hand drill, then you might just want to rethink your construction or design process. there's nothing a decent router and a few different, purposed bits can't do.
