When it comes to theater in this country, we're No. 2
Star Tribune: "We did pretty darn good here in Our Town when it came to cultural amenities, but the rating for theater has us blushing. We're No. 2, behind only New York -- which is like being No. 1 because New York is in a class by itself. In 2001, I wrote a story about how the Twin Cities sold more theater tickets per capita than any city outside Gotham. That was a quantitative look; without the questions that Travel + Leisure asked, it's tough to pinpoint what has people jazzed about Twin Cities theater. There is, after all, a city called Chicago."

this is kind of funny because living here i dont feel like thats the case but maybe i am under the wrong impression, on the other-hand it would explain why our school is so strong because people always think we are removed from the action but with information like this coming out that doesn't seem to be the case...
It's always good to see other theatre scenes being recognized. I'm always intrigued by the other scenes and what is available after graduation.
Although, it seems that the theatre participants in Minneapolis were surprised by their high rankings. They may have had a sudden upswing. Hopefully they will be receiving more out of town try outs for Broadway that will continue to bring more theatre to the twin cities.
Really? Maybe I'm just not getting out to see much theater. From what I have seen and heard, we sound like we are doing fine, but to be put before Chicago especially, that just seems out of place. Oh well, its nice to know that although not in NYC, we are still surrounded by art that is getting recognized.
I come from a place in Flroida where theater is very strong and it's nice to see other avenues than Broadway doing so well
