You can say that these movies being adapted are terrible ideas but that's what most people thought of hairspray and I think it was an improvment. You never know with these things. Personaly I never liked dirty dancing and I don't think that there is alot there for a stage version.

i too was wowed when i saw this blog because i felt as though it was the twentieth movie to stage adaptation i had seen on the blog page. if i was a writer for the stage i would be a little dissapointed that producers and such were not interested in creating original works.

I'm alittle worried at how this will be taken here. Films that normally are classics that get adapted to film sometimes have a problem because of what the audience is expecting. If this adaptation can meet those and give the it something new I think that it will do well here. I'm interested to see it's reviews.

Another movie turned musically.....we are in desperate need of some new works. I'm sure Dirty Dancing The Musical will be perfectly entertaining and bring to you everything the film does, but honestly was there any reason to put this on stage. There are no hidden truths or depths that are going to magically appear when preformed on stage.

Another film converted to stage, and the only reason people go to see it is because they wonder "How are they going to pull this off?" The only way they could get more attention is if they used the original cast to perform it. This trend in the industry is getting slightly bothersome because it adds a new category to theatre, but doesn't produce new works. The hope would be new innovations would come from new shows but I suppose people are willing to pay more money to see a movie acted out live.
