PG East preview: 'Rocky Horror Show' is a Halloween treat

Post Gazette: "Tomorrow night and Saturday only, Stage Right theater company continues a Halloween tradition with 'The Rocky Horror Show,' the musical-slash-cult phenomenon that introduced the world to the 'Time Warp,' the planet Transexual and the pleasures of throwing toast."

Although I'm not a fan of "Rocky Horror", I love that it gets the audience partcipating. Despite my lack of taste for it, I'd still go because it seems like a fun night out. ANy show with audience participation has the audience forgetting about bad plots or acting because they are too caught up in the adrenaline of the fun. Sure, it may not be true theatre, but it is most definately entertainment. As long as the audience is enjoying themselves, let the show go on.

This seems like one those shows that it really is hard to do poorly, because teh audience is just excited to be there. I saw a subpar production of Rocky Horror last year that from a theatrical standpoint, was definitely nothing to write home about. The environment the show creates, though, is enough to make the experience a lot of fun, and I still really enjoyed the show.

To touch on what Joe said it is all about the fun and people who are there. It's such a fun show just in its own right as an experience more than a show and regardless as long as it happens it will be good.
