I'm very excited for the "green" movement to hit theatres. In such a traditional industry, it will be difficult to implement cost-efficient ways to be more environmentally friendly. I don't think going "green" will increase ticket sales which will make it impractical for a few years to come.
Yay for London theaters! It is crucial that all industries start becoming concerned in this way about their ecological footprint. It is uplifting to see that even in an industry where money is always tight, they are taking action to fight for our earth. Hopefully, this movement will come to America and Boradway in the near future. However, the sucess of this project will be seen in a theater-goers willingness to pay slightly more for a ticket at a 'green' venue. Only then will this movement be sucessful.
I thought I read an article like this about London theaters a year ago. In any case, the idea sounds great. From a business standpoint, it may lose money for the company, but it may allow for more directed marketing and sponsorship.
