Volux Lighting Back at ULTRA 2026: The PHYTON Makes Its World Debut

www.limelightwired.com: For the second consecutive year, Volux Lighting showed up to Miami Music Week with something to prove. And for the second consecutive year, they delivered. This time around, the RESISTANCE Megastructure at ULTRA Music Festival 2026 served as the global launchpad for the Volux Lighting PHYTON, the company's IP66-rated hybrid-profile moving head, marking the first time the fixture has appeared on an actual production since its announcement.

This venue looks super sick. It took me a moment to figure out what I was even looking at. I love the attention to detail in making sure that the media is angled to the trusses, and even in some moments literally flows into the visible truss. It’s super impressive to see that this company’s fixtures were able to withstand a storm on Day 3 of this music festival last year. I feel like in theatrical lighting design we often discount IP ratings as they aren’t often useful to our spaces which are typically indoors, but in the concert world they become super relevant as so many concerts do take place outdoors or in spaces with an open roof. Anyway the illumination provided by Volux’s new PHYTON fixture is pretty insane just looking at the photos from this event. It feels comparable to the strength of beam you get from a Halcyon.

The visuals shown in this article are very captivating the appearance of the megastructure and its lighting rig that is showed in the fist image is extremely cool, and if fun to look at. The design of the megastructure and the height at which the lighting rig is set at also really does a good job at showcasing what seems to be the main selling point of the PHYTON moving lighting which is easily visible in the images of this article. This main selling point is the wide beam that the light can make when compared to lights of the same size and even when compared to larger lighting fixtures. As someone who has done a fair bit of lighting design in their career in theater I can say that the large beam that these lights are creating is getting the creative juices flowing. I would be overjoyed to get a chance to work with and more importantly design any production or show that would allow be to use these lights in my design.
