oozing inflatables shape this milan installation by USM and snøhetta

www.designboom.com: Snøhetta partners with USM Modular Furniture to create Renaissance of the Real, an otherworldly installation during Milan Design Week 2026. It unfolds in the garden of Fondazione Luigi Rovati as a lightweight space that frames the relationship between structure, body, and perception.

This is so fitting for the time I’m reading it! Currently, all the freshman are working on our Imaginarium projects, which are due Monday! We’ve all set our sights high on interactive environments and art experiences. I could totally imagine a group wanting to make “oozing inflatables.”
It is interesting that this exhibit moves: “swells and compresses gently.” Movement always adds a layer of difficulty, as the materials and design must be altered to allow wear. I loved seeing the picture of the inside of the space! It seems strange, but cool, that they hold “daily vinyl listening sessions.”
I definitely thought this design was interesting to look at, and would have loved to see it in person. I did think the writing style was a bit “artsy” in a vague, slightly vain way. I wonder if it just impacted the writer in a different, deeper way than is visible to me as a reader of the article, and viewer of pictures.
