Makita GSL02Z 8 1/2-Inch Cordless Miter Saw
Journal of Light Construction: Smaller, more compact battery-powered miter saws have become quite popular over the last few years, offering greater portability than their beefier siblings while delivering most of the benefits. I’m generally a fan of smaller, more portable tools but I wanted a miter saw with greater capabilities and precision than most of the smaller 7 ¼-inch saws had to offer.

To be honest, when I first saw the title of the article, I was a bit skeptical about the importance of this development. Larger shop tools, especially those like a cnc router or a miter saw, are only allowed to exist in certain places – notably housed on a shelf along the wall of a stageshop or build studio. So for me, it seems kind of useless that they are cordless because they are not being moved that frequently, if even at all. With all that being said, it is very impressive that someone has designed such a tool, but it seems from the article to be less effective than its corded counterpart. The article does bring up the interesting point about storage space though. I suppose if you are a smaller company or simply do not have enough space, it would be quite beneficial to you to have something that you can pull out and then store for the day.
