Girls Just Want to Have Fun is now going to be a musical!? I didn't even know that it was a movie. I just thought it was a song, but apparently not. I'm always iffy when someone wants to turn movies into musicals. I think it's been a hit in the past, but it's also very iffy; sometimes, they just aren't good. But I think this might have potential. I think it's a really great idea that they are workshopping this with college juniors. I think that provides a really great opportunity for students to learn. This seems to have a great team of creatives, amazing to be referencing great music for this musical, so I'm very intrigued. This is playing locally at the Pittsburgh Playhouse, so I'll see it in the fall semester. I hope this is a good adaptation of a musical and does the original content justice.
