It has become very clear that using moving lights as followspots is the future of the lighting industry, even if it is going to take a while for it to reach full adoption. That being said, I am curious how much of this market goes to remotely controlled systems like PRG’s Ground Control or Robe’s Robospot, and how much of the market goes to tracking solutions like Blacktrack or Follow Me. Both systems solve the problem of getting spotlight operators into hard to reach places, but remotely operated systems keep the human aspect, while tracking systems promise to reduce the number of operators on site.
I also think that it is interesting to look at the working relationship between Follow-Me and Kariot. It speaks to the necessity of having local and on-the-ground knowledge in order to actually sell products. It is interesting to see what kinds of dealers and representatives all kinds of international manufactures find in their target markets, in order to connect to the needs of that particular market.
