Clear-Com Releases New Arcadia & Eclipse HX Updates
ProSoundWeb: Clear-Com has announced updates to the Arcadia Central Station as well as enhancements to the Eclipse HX Digital Matrix System, which is now running the latest EHX v15 software that delivers expanded configuration capabilities, increased system capacity, and enhanced network resilience while also enabling the introduction of ARC (Access, Resource, Configuration). Both developments will be spotlighted at the upcoming 2026 NAB Show at the Las Vegas Convention Center at booth C5807.

This serves as an indicator of the trend of production communication systems getting more and more powerful, but also more complicated. It seems like this trend of more complicated systems has no sign of slowing. While this unlocks awesome possibilities, I sometimes wonder how many users can actually take advantage of all of these features, or even understand what is possible. I would consider myself a fairly technically savvy person, but still don’t even understand all of the configuration possibilities for our school’s fairly simple helixnet system.
While it is possible to have highly trained technicians on site who can do all of the configuration necessary to make these systems work, I wonder whether the users can actually use it to it’s full capacity. If I am some random producer who wants to talk to my crew, I just want to be able to talk into my microphone and have people hear me. I don’t care what user I am or what groups or stacks I am part of. I think it is the job of the system integrator to be able to figure out how all that backend works, so that when the user gets to site it just works.
This is a really big step forward for Helixnet and intercom communication and deployment. While I do think it moves the simplicity farther away from beginner, it allows the experienced user to make their system in any way that they want. This highlights the importance of understanding software and being able to interact with complicated online systems and networks to get the job done. The configuration layer of the new ARC system is especially interesting to me as it allows for complete control over assignments and topology in a way that’s way more flexible than it was. Being able to make fixed assignments or flexible ones as well as totally reconfigure on a dime based on needs is super helpful. I am excited to learn more about their new system and get some hands-on experience when I can. I wonder how difficult the learning curve will be for me and for new users who are just experiencing intercom for the first time in a professional setting.
