At first glance of the article's title, I thought to myself, "why does New York City need another awards show for theatre and live performances?" I felt that New York City is already widely known for its live performances on and off-broadway and didn't really need that much more recognition. Especially with the fact that there are about 15 recurring major award shows per year. However, Made In NY has a bigger impact on the whole city’s theatre and live performance community rather than just broadway performances as it recognizes talent found in concert halls, community centers and many other venues found throughout the city. An event like this will allow so much of the theatre industry in New York City to connect and grow.I believe this can give great opportunities to very talented performers and designers that may struggle to gain higher connections within the industry.
