Real World Gear: In-Ear & Personal Monitoring
ProSoundWeb: In-ear monitor (IEM) systems and personal monitor mixers work with earpieces (“earbuds”) and sometimes headphones to deliver mixes to performers. There are several advantages, including reducing feedback issues from having fewer (or no) loudspeakers generating output on stage and reducing the need to carry, setup and strike heavy monitor wedges.

While I was watching the singers on the TV music programs when I was young, I always wondered why performers are wearing earbuds while they are performing. It was only a few years before when I learned that In-Ear was a thing. The more I learn about the sound technology and its equipment, the more I get fascinated by the diverse types of options. Although products like In-ears would draw less attention to public because they do not need those unless they are musicians performing on a huge stage, I really enjoy reading and learning about how the sound network works beyond the site that is being shown to the audience. It was especially interesting to read the part about more equipments adapting the wireless systems; it would be very exciting to see the musicians and performers on the stage freely without any wires connected to them at the back.
