It is tragic to hear as events get cancelled farther and farther into the future. Back when things began shutting down, it was initially for a couple days, or a week. Then it moved to a month. Now we are seeing events that are months away being shut down, and its only making the severity of the situations we face more and more evident. The combination of keeping up to date on the current statistics of the pandemic, as well as keeping up on news of the world, makes the whole situation seem more and more dire. I have certainly heard of the Edinburgh Fringe festival, but I never realized just how big the event is. Three million tickets sold collecting an estimated $1 billion in revenue. That is absolutely incredible. It is hard to wrap my mind around just how massive the festival really is. And it is even harder to face the reality that cancelling the festival is for the best. As sad as it is, it was done in the best interest of all the people who would be attending the festival.
